Abstract

Sleep is a basic need that must be fulfilled by all living creatures. Everyone needs sufficient sleep to be able to perform activities optimally the next day. People aged 18-40 years need 7-8 hours of sleep every day, so if they sleep less than 7 hours, they will experience several health problems. Sufficient sleep is very important for everyone because it has many benefits, such as preventing various diseases, strengthening the immune system, and improving memory. In Indonesia, in 2004, the number of people suffering from insomnia reached 28 million out of a population of 238 million (>10%) according to the US Census Bureau. This research approach is a descriptive qualitative study that aims to analyze and synthesize relevant research to provide an in-depth understanding of the causes and effects of staying up late on the health of students. Students who stay up late may experience a bad mood, usually in the morning, while students who get enough sleep will feel more refreshed, energetic, and active at the start of the day. Ways for students to avoid staying up late or pulling all-nighters include learning to live a regular lifestyle, not waiting until the last minute to do assignments, reducing caffeine intake such as coffee, exercising, and turning off and keeping all gadgets away from the body.
