Main Article Content
Abstract
The application of healthy eating based on balanced nutrition principles is a fundamental strategy for improving public health. This article aims to analyze the components, benefits, and challenges of implementing balanced nutrition as a means to enhance overall health quality. The analysis is conducted through a review of scientific literature discussing the relationship between dietary patterns, nutrient adequacy, and disease prevention. Findings indicate that balanced nutrition which includes adequate intake of complex carbohydrates, quality proteins, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and fluids plays a significant role in supporting metabolic processes, strengthening immune function, and reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders. Additionally, consuming a variety of foods and managing portion sizes appropriately contribute to achieving optimal nutritional status. However, the implementation of balanced nutrition remains challenged by low nutrition literacy, increasing consumption of processed foods, limited access to healthy foods, and sedentary lifestyle trends. Addressing these issues requires collaborative efforts through nutrition education, supportive food policies, improved access to nutritious ingredients, and promotion of physical activity. Overall, this analysis highlights that adopting healthy eating practices grounded in balanced nutrition is an effective strategy to improve public health and enhance overall quality of life.
