Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of rural communities towards the Posyandu health program as an effort to prevent diseases in toddlers and adolescents. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with indirect data collection methods through documentation studies, non-participatory observation, secondary data analysis, and interviews with Posyandu cadres and adolescent participants. The results show that community perceptions of Posyandu vary, influenced by their level of understanding, experience in accessing health services, educational background, and the active role of Posyandu cadres. Some community members have positive perceptions, as demonstrated by their active participation in routine Posyandu activities, because they feel the direct benefits of monitoring toddler growth and development, health education, and nutritional fulfillment. However, there are still people who are less enthusiastic due to time constraints, lack of understanding, and the perception that Posyandu has not had a significant impact. Therefore, program innovation, approaches that are in line with the socio-cultural conditions of the community, and strengthening the role of cadres are needed to increase participation and the success of the Posyandu program in a sustainable manner.
