THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LIFESTYLE AND HYPERTENSION IN THE ELDERLY

Abstract
Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure that is a chronic health problem whose prevalence continues to increase, a risk that can cause serious complications. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that can cause hypertension. The method used in this study is a literature review by analyzing, identifying, and combining. Scientific articles were published and obtained through the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. The results of the study show that lifestyle and age factors, such as unhealthy lifestyles and lack of physical activity such as exercise, show a significant relationship with increased blood pressure. Usually, people with hypertension show signs and symptoms such as headaches, nausea and vomiting, visual disturbances, and blood in the eyes. Normal blood pressure readings are 120/80 mmHg and > 130/80 mmHg, which can be considered high blood pressure. Conclusion: This study states that lifestyle and age are important factors in the occurrence of hypertension and need to be considered in efforts to prevent and control hypertension.
